User Guide for Buyers


Kitchen Hopping connects food enthusiasts like you with local home cooks and restaurants offering delicious homemade dishes. Follow this simple guide to start enjoying great food from your community.

1. Getting Started

Sign Up & Share Location:
After downloading the app, create your account. You’ll be asked to share your location so we can show you nearby home cooks and restaurants. Your location helps us display dishes by proximity, so you always know what’s available in your area.

Browse or Search for Dishes:
Use the search bar to look for a specific dish or browse categories to explore options. Items are displayed based on how close they are to you, so you'll find local favorites first!

2. How to Place an Order

View Item Details:
Once you find a dish you’re interested in, tap on it to see more details. You’ll find descriptions, prices, and other details provided by the seller.

Adjust Quantity & Select Pickup Time:
On the item page, adjust the quantity (default is 1). Then, pick your preferred pickup date and time from the available options.

Place Your Order:
Select your payment method (Credit Card, PayPal, or Google Pay). To submit the order request, slide the Place Order button.

3. Order Confirmation and Pickup

Wait for Seller Confirmation:
After placing your order, the seller will either accept or decline your request. Sellers may occasionally propose a new pickup time if they are unable to fulfill your original request. You’ll receive a notification if a time change is suggested, and you can either accept the new time or cancel the order. If accepted, the seller will confirm the exact pickup location, and the app will notify you. The seller’s address will only be revealed once they confirm the order.

Escrow Payment for Security:
Once the order is confirmed, your payment will be processed and held in escrow for security. This means your money is safe until you pick up the order. The seller knows the payment is ready, and you know your payment is secure until you get your food.

Pickup Your Order:
On the day of pickup, head to the confirmed location. After receiving your food, open the app, go to your order details, and release payment by sliding the Release Payment button. This will transfer the funds from escrow to the seller.

4. Managing Orders

Order Declined or Unresponsive Sellers:
If the seller declines your request or doesn’t respond in time, your payment will be automatically refunded. You can choose to have the refund returned to your original form of payment or kept as a credit for future orders.

Order Cancellations:
If you need to cancel your order, you can do so before the seller accepts the request. After confirmation, you must submit a cancellation request and may be subject to the seller's policy.

5. Payment Methods

Kitchen Hopping offers several payment options for your convenience:

  • Google Pay

Your payment will only be released to the seller after you confirm receipt of the order. All transactions are securely processed and protected through escrow.

Q: How do I know when my order is ready for pickup?
A: Your order includes a specific date and time for pickup. Once the seller confirms your order, they are committed to having it ready by the scheduled time. You can simply arrive for pickup as planned. If there are any issues, the seller will contact you in advance.

Q: Can I contact the seller?
A: Yes! You can send a message to the seller through the app if you have any questions about the order.

Q: What if I’m running late for pickup?
A: If you can’t make it at the scheduled time, contact the seller as soon as possible to see if they can adjust the time.

Q: What happens if the seller declines my order?
A: If your order is declined, a refund will be automatically processed, and the money will be returned to your original payment method or stored as a credit for future use.
